* Replace deprecated ioutilChris Evich2022-09-20
| | | | | | | | | | Package `io/ioutil` was deprecated in golang 1.16, preventing podman from building under Fedora 37. Fortunately, functionality identical replacements are provided by the packages `io` and `os`. Replace all usage of all `io/ioutil` symbols with appropriate substitutions according to the golang docs. * implement podman updateCharlie Doern2022-09-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | podman update allows users to change the cgroup configuration of an existing container using the already defined resource limits flags from podman create/run. The supported flags in crun are: this command is also now supported in the libpod api via the /libpod/containers/<CID>/update endpoint where the resource limits are passed inthe request body and follow the OCI resource spec format –memory –cpus –cpuset-cpus –cpuset-mems –memory-swap –memory-reservation –cpu-shares –cpu-quota –cpu-period –blkio-weight –cpu-rt-period –cpu-rt-runtime -device-read-bps -device-write-bps -device-read-iops -device-write-iops -memory-swappiness -blkio-weight-device resolves #15067 Signed-off-by: Charlie Doern <cdoern@redhat.com>
* pod create --share none should not create infraCharlie Doern2022-07-25
| | | | | | | | | | | for podman pod create, when we are not sharing any namespaces there is no point for the infra container. This is especially true since resources have also been decoupled from the container recently. handle this on the cmd level so that we can still create infra if set explicitly resolves #15048 Signed-off-by: Charlie Doern <cdoern@redhat.com>
* podman pod create --uts supportcdoern2022-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | add support for the --uts flag in pod create, allowing users to avoid issues with default values in containers.conf. uts follows the same format as other namespace flags: --uts=private (default), --uts=host, --uts=ns:PATH resolves #13714 Signed-off-by: Charlie Doern <cdoern@redhat.com>
* cmd/podman: switch to golang native error wrappingSascha Grunert2022-06-30

* | Allow podman pod create to accept name argumentDaniel J Walsh2022-05-24
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | I am constantly attempting to add the podname to the last argument to podman pod create. Allowing this makes it match podman volume create and podman network create. It does not match podman container create, since podman container create arguments specify the arguments to run with the container. Still need to support the --name option for backwards compatibility. Signed-off-by: Daniel J Walsh <dwalsh@redhat.com>
* pod: add exit policiesValentin Rothberg2022-05-02
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Add the notion of an "exit policy" to a pod. This policy controls the behaviour when the last container of pod exits. Initially, there are two policies: - "continue" : the pod continues running. This is the default policy when creating a pod. - "stop" : stop the pod when the last container exits. This is the default behaviour for `play kube`. In order to implement the deferred stop of a pod, add a worker queue to the libpod runtime. The queue will pick up work items and in this case helps resolve dead locks that would otherwise occur if we attempted to stop a pod during container cleanup. Note that the default restart policy of `play kube` is "Always". Hence, in order to really solve #13464, the YAML files must set a custom restart policy; the tests use "OnFailure". * enable errcheck linterPaul Holzinger2022-04-29
| | | | | | | | The errcheck linter makes sure that errors are always check and not ignored by accident. It spotted a lot of unchecked errors, mostly in the tests but also some real problem in the code. Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <pholzing@redhat.com>
* enable gocritic linterPaul Holzinger2022-04-26
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The linter ensures a common code style. - use switch/case instead of else if - use if instead of switch/case for single case statement - add space between comment and text - detect the use of defer with os.Exit() - use short form var += "..." instead of var = var + "..." - detect problems with append() ``` newSlice := append(orgSlice, val) ``` This could lead to nasty bugs because the orgSlice will be changed in place if it has enough capacity too hold the new elements. Thus we newSlice might not be a copy. Of course most of the changes are just cosmetic and do not cause any logic errors but I think it is a good idea to enforce a common style. This should help maintainability. Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <pholzing@redhat.com>
* Remove error stutterDaniel J Walsh2022-03-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When podman gets an error it prints out "Error: " before printing the error string. If the error message starts with error, we end up with Error: error ... This PR Removes all of these stutters. logrus.Error() also prints out that this is an error, so no need for the error stutter. [NO NEW TESTS NEEDED] Signed-off-by: Daniel J Walsh <dwalsh@redhat.com>
* Implement Podman Container Clonecdoern2022-02-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | podman container clone takes the id of an existing continer and creates a specgen from the given container's config recreating all proper namespaces and overriding spec options like resource limits and the container name if given in the cli options this command utilizes the common function DefineCreateFlags meaning that we can funnel as many create options as we want into clone over time allowing the user to clone with as much or as little of the original config as they want. container clone takes a second argument which is a new name and a third argument which is an image name to use instead of the original container's the current supported flags are: --destroy (remove the original container) --name (new ctr name) --cpus (sets cpu period and quota) --cpuset-cpus --cpu-period --cpu-rt-period --cpu-rt-runtime --cpu-shares --cpuset-mems --memory --run resolves #10875 Signed-off-by: cdoern <cdoern@redhat.com> Signed-off-by: cdoern <cbdoer23@g.holycross.edu> Signed-off-by: cdoern <cdoern@redhat.com>

* support advanced network configuration via cliPaul Holzinger2021-12-14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rework the --network parse logic to support multiple networks with specific network configuration settings. --network can now be set multiple times. For bridge network mode the following options have been added: - **alias=name**: Add network-scoped alias for the container. - **ip=IPv4**: Specify a static ipv4 address for this container. - **ip=IPv6**: Specify a static ipv6 address for this container. - **mac=MAC**: Specify a static mac address address for this container. - **interface_name**: Specify a name for the created network interface inside the container. So now you can set --network bridge:ip=10.88.0.10,mac=44:33:22:11:00:99 for the default bridge network as well as for network names. This is better than using --ip because we can set the ip per network without any confusion which network the ip address should be assigned to. The --ip, --mac-address and --network-alias options are still supported but --ip or --mac-address can only be set when only one network is set. This limitation already existed previously. The ability to specify a custom network interface name is new Fixes #11534 Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <pholzing@redhat.com>

* pod create: remove need for pause imageValentin Rothberg2021-10-26

* Pod Device-Read-BPS supportcdoern2021-09-28

* Created MapOptions for PodCreatecdoern2021-09-20
| | | | | | | | MapOptions take the pod and container create options, assigning matching values from infra back to the pod for the Libpod API. This function, unlike the previous one, does not require any manual additions when new options are added since it uses the structs JSON tags, this is a more modular approach. * Pod Volumes Supportcdoern2021-09-14

* InfraContainer Reworkcdoern2021-08-26
| | | | | | | | | | InfraContainer should go through the same creation process as regular containers. This change was from the cmd level down, involving new container CLI opts and specgen creating functions. What now happens is that both container and pod cli options are populated in cmd and used to create a podSpecgen and a containerSpecgen. The process then goes as follows FillOutSpecGen (infra) -> MapSpec (podOpts -> infraOpts) -> PodCreate -> MakePod -> createPodOptions -> NewPod -> CompleteSpec (infra) -> MakeContainer -> NewContainer -> newContainer -> AddInfra (to pod state) Signed-off-by: cdoern <cdoern@redhat.com>

* Podman Pod Create --cpus and --cpuset-cpus flagscdoern2021-06-23
| | | | | | | | | | | | Added logic and handling for two new Podman pod create Flags. --cpus specifies the total number of cores on which the pod can execute, this is a combination of the period and quota for the CPU. --cpuset-cpus is a string value which determines of these available cores, how many we will truly execute on. * [Techinal Debt] Cleanup ABI vs. Tunnel CLI commandsJhon Honce2021-05-27
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | [NO TESTS NEEDED] This commit cleans up two issues: * Most commands support all EngineModes so default to that. Let outlayers declare their intent. * Use cobra.Annotations to set supported EngineMode. This simplies instantiating commands as there is now one method to communicate a commands requirements rather than two. * Combined aliased commands into one file * Fixed aliased commands where Args field did not match * Updated examples in README.md for writing commands * Remove redundant flag DisableFlagsInUseLine in cobra.Command initialization. * Fix --network parsing for podman pod createPaul Holzinger2021-01-31
| | | | | | | | | | | | The `--network` flag is parsed differently for `podman pod create`. This causes confusion and problems for users. The extra parsing logic ignored unsupported network options such as `none`, `container:...` and `ns:...` and instead interpreted them as cni network names. Tests are added to ensure the correct errors are shown. Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <paul.holzinger@web.de>
* Revert "Allow multiple --network flags for podman run/create"Luap992020-11-30
| | | | | | | | | As described in issue #8507 this commit contains a breaking change which is not wanted in v2.2. We can discuss later if we want this in 3.0 or not. Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <paul.holzinger@web.de>

| * Allow multiple --network flags for podman run/createPaul Holzinger2020-11-20
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | We allow a container to be connected to several cni networks but only if they are listed comma sperated. This is not intuitive for users especially since the flag parsing allows multiple string flags but only would take the last value. see: spf13/pflag#72 Also get rid of the extra parsing logic for pods. The invalid options are already handled by `pkg/specgen`. A test is added to prevent a future regression. Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <paul.holzinger@web.de>

* Add shell completion with cobraPaul Holzinger2020-11-12
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Allow automatic generation for shell completion scripts with the internal cobra functions (requires v1.0.0+). This should replace the handwritten completion scripts and even adds support for fish. With this approach it is less likley that completions and code are out of sync. We can now create the scripts with - podman completion bash - podman completion zsh - podman completion fish To test the completion run: source <(podman completion bash) The same works for podman-remote and podman --remote and it will complete your remote containers/images with the correct endpoints values from --url/--connection. The completion logic is written in go and provided by the cobra library. The completion functions lives in `cmd/podman/completion/completion.go`. The unit test at cmd/podman/shell_completion_test.go checks if each command and flag has an autocompletion function set. This prevents that commands and flags have no shell completion set. This commit does not replace the current autocompletion scripts. Closes #6440 Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <paul.holzinger@web.de>

* Fix container and pod create commands for remote createMatthew Heon2020-07-10
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | In `podman inspect` output for containers and pods, we include the command that was used to create the container. This is also used by `podman generate systemd --new` to generate unit files. With remote podman, the generated create commands were incorrect since we sourced directly from os.Args on the server side, which was guaranteed to be `podman system service` (or some variant thereof). The solution is to pass the command along in the Specgen or PodSpecgen, where we can source it from the client's os.Args. This will still be VERY iffy for mixed local/remote use (doing a `podman --remote run ...` on a remote client then a `podman generate systemd --new` on the server on the same container will not work, because the `--remote` flag will slip in) but at the very least the output of `podman inspect` will be correct. We can look into properly handling `--remote` (parsing it out would be a little iffy) in a future PR. Signed-off-by: Matthew Heon <matthew.heon@pm.me>
* move go module to v2Valentin Rothberg2020-07-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With the advent of Podman 2.0.0 we crossed the magical barrier of go modules. While we were able to continue importing all packages inside of the project, the project could not be vendored anymore from the outside.
