* Podman pull --all-tags shorthand optionJake Correnti2022-07-14
| | | | | | | I added the shorthand option for `podman pull --all-tags`. Like Docker, Podman can now do `podman pull -a`. Signed-off-by: Jake Correnti <jcorrenti13@gmail.com>
* e2e tests: cleanup: capitalize CONSTANTSEd Santiago2022-07-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A number of standard image names were lower-case, leading to confusion in code such as: registry := podman(... , "-n", "registry", registry, ...) ^--- variable ^---- constant Fix a number of those to be capitalized and with _IMAGE suffix: registry := podman(..., REGISTRY_IMAGE Signed-off-by: Ed Santiago <santiago@redhat.com>
* e2e: pull_test: speed up --all-tagsValentin Rothberg2022-05-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | Pulling the K8s pause image seems unnecessarily expensive to me. Let's use the testgitest_v2s2 one which is under our control and weighs only a couple of KB. This cut the execution time in less than half on my machine. Since it's network bound and I am running on fibre, I expect more significant speed ups in slower networks. * e2e: pull_test: squash --quiet testValentin Rothberg2022-05-05
| | | | | | | | Squash the --quiet test into another one. The test was more complex than necessary and can easily be squashed into another one to avoid one more expensive pull. Signed-off-by: Valentin Rothberg <vrothberg@redhat.com>
* e2e: pull_test: move tests aroundValentin Rothberg2022-05-05
| | | | | | Let's keep simple tests at the top and complex ones at the bottom. Signed-off-by: Valentin Rothberg <vrothberg@redhat.com>
* e2e: pull_test: remove redundant testsValentin Rothberg2022-05-05
| | | | | | | | Once upon a time, the tests actually pulled from Docker Hub. This has changed with the rate limits, so we can safely remove the redundant tests to speed up CI. Signed-off-by: Valentin Rothberg <vrothberg@redhat.com>
* enable errcheck linterPaul Holzinger2022-04-29
| | | | | | | | The errcheck linter makes sure that errors are always check and not ignored by accident. It spotted a lot of unchecked errors, mostly in the tests but also some real problem in the code. Signed-off-by: Paul Holzinger <pholzing@redhat.com>
* Ginkgo: use HaveField() for better error checkingEd Santiago2022-04-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a very late followup to my ginkgo-improving work of 2021. It has been stuck since December because it requires gomega 1.17, which we've just enabled. This commit is simply a copy-paste of a command I saved in my TODO list many months ago: sed -i -e 's/Expect(\([^ ]\+\)\.\([a-zA-Z0-9]\+\))\.To(Equal(/Expect(\1).To(HaveField(\"\2\", /' test/e2e/*_test.go Signed-off-by: Ed Santiago <santiago@redhat.com>

* image lookup: do not match *any* tagsValentin Rothberg2021-11-23
| | | | | | | | | | For reasons buried in the history of Podman, looking up an untagged image would match any tag of matching image. For instance, looking up centos would match a local image centos:foobar. Change that behavior to only match the latest tag. Fix: #11964 Signed-off-by: Valentin Rothberg <rothberg@redhat.com>

* e2e tests: use Should(Exit()) and ExitWithError()Ed Santiago2021-07-15
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | e2e test failures are rife with messages like: Expected 1 to equal 0 These make me cry. They're anti-helpful, requiring the reader to dive into the source code to figure out what those numbers mean. Solution: Go tests have a '.Should(Exit(NNN))' mechanism. I don't know if it spits out a better diagnostic (I have no way to run e2e tests on my laptop), but I have to fantasize that it will, and given the state of our flakes I assume that at least one test will fail and give me the opportunity to see what the error message looks like. THIS IS NOT REVIEWABLE CODE. There is no way for a human to review it. Don't bother. Maybe look at a few random ones for sanity. If you want to really review, here is a reproducer of what I did: cd test/e2e ! positive assertions. The second is the same as the first, ! with the addition of (unnecessary) parentheses because ! some invocations were written that way. The third is BeZero(). perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(Equal\((\d+)\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit($2))/' *_test.go perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(\(Equal\((\d+)\)\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit($2))/' *_test.go perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(BeZero\(\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit(0))/' *_test.go ! Same as above, but handles three non-numeric exit codes ! in run_exit_test.go perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(Equal\((\S+)\)\)/Expect($1).Should(Exit($2))/' *_test.go ! negative assertions. Difference is the spelling of 'To(Not)', ! 'ToNot', and 'NotTo'. I assume those are all the same. perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.To\(Not\(Equal\((0)\)\)\)/Expect($1).To(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.ToNot\(Equal\((0)\)\)/Expect($1).To(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.NotTo\(Equal\((0)\)\)/Expect($1).To(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go ! negative, old use of BeZero() perl -pi -e 's/Expect\((\S+)\.ExitCode\(\)\)\.ToNot\(BeZero\(\)\)/Expect($1).Should(ExitWithError())/' *_test.go Run those on a clean copy of main branch (at the same branch point as my PR, of course), then diff against a checked-out copy of my PR. There should be no differences. Then all you have to review is that my replacements above are sane. UPDATE: nope, that's not enough, you also need to add gomega/gexec to the files that don't have it: perl -pi -e '$_ .= "$1/gexec\"\n" if m!^(.*/onsi/gomega)"!' $(grep -L gomega/gexec $(git log -1 --stat | awk '$1 ~ /test\/e2e\// { print $1}')) UPDATE 2: hand-edit run_volume_test.go UPDATE 3: sigh, add WaitWithDefaultTimeout() to a couple of places UPDATE 4: skip a test due to bug #10935 (race condition) Signed-off-by: Ed Santiago <santiago@redhat.com>

* migrate Podman to containers/common/libimageValentin Rothberg2021-05-05
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Migrate the Podman code base over to `common/libimage` which replaces `libpod/image` and a lot of glue code entirely. Note that I tried to leave bread crumbs for changed tests. Miscellaneous changes: * Some errors yield different messages which required to alter some tests. * I fixed some pre-existing issues in the code. Others were marked as `//TODO`s to prevent the PR from exploding. * The `NamesHistory` of an image is returned as is from the storage. Previously, we did some filtering which I think is undesirable. Instead we should return the data as stored in the storage. * Touched handlers use the ABI interfaces where possible. * Local image resolution: previously Podman would match "foo" on "myfoo". This behaviour has been changed and Podman will now only match on repository boundaries such that "foo" would match "my/foo" but not "myfoo". I consider the old behaviour to be a bug, at the very least an exotic corner case. * Futhermore, "foo:none" does *not* resolve to a local image "foo" without tag anymore. It's a hill I am (almost) willing to die on. * `image prune` prints the IDs of pruned images. Previously, in some cases, the names were printed instead. The API clearly states ID, so we should stick to it. * Compat endpoint image removal with _force_ deletes the entire not only the specified tag. Signed-off-by: Valentin Rothberg <rothberg@redhat.com>
* bump go module to v3Valentin Rothberg2021-02-22
| | | | | | | | | We missed bumping the go module, so let's do it now :) * Automated go code with github.com/sirkon/go-imports-rename * Manually via `vgrep podman/v2` the rest Signed-off-by: Valentin Rothberg <rothberg@redhat.com>
* Cleanup bindings for image pullDaniel J Walsh2021-01-27
| | | | | | | | | | Remove bindings that are not handled over the API. Leaving this one to not use image pull, since this would break progress handling. We should revisit this in the future. Signed-off-by: Daniel J Walsh <dwalsh@redhat.com>
* Fix --arch and --os flags to work correctlyDaniel J Walsh2021-01-25
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently podman implements --override-arch and --overide-os But Podman has made these aliases for --arch and --os. No reason to have to specify --override, since it is clear what the user intends. Currently if the user specifies an --override-arch field but the image was previously pulled for a different Arch, podman run uses the different arch. This PR also fixes this issue. * | Add support for --platformDaniel J Walsh2020-11-26
|/ | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For docker compatibility we need to support --platform flag. podman create --platform podman run --platform podman pull --platform Since we have --override-os and --override-arch already this can be done just by modifying the client to split the --platform call into os and arch and then pass those options to the server side. * use lookaside storage for remote testsbaude2020-11-16
| | | | | | | | | | in an effort to speed up the remote testing, we should be using lookaside storage to avoid pull images as well as importing multiple images into the RW store. one test was removed and added into system test by Ed in #8325 Signed-off-by: baude <bbaude@redhat.com>
* move from docker.ioEd Santiago2020-10-28
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Followon to #7965 (mirror registry). mirror.gcr.io doesn't cache all the images we need, and I can't find a way to add to its cache, so let's just use quay.io for those images that it can't serve. Tools used: skopeo copy --all docker://docker.io/library/alpine:3.10.2 \ docker://quay.io/libpod/alpine:3.10.2 ...and also: docker.io/library/alpine:3.2 docker.io/library/busybox:latest docker.io/library/busybox:glibc docker.io/library/busybox:1.30.1 docker.io/library/redis:alpine docker.io/libpod/alpine-with-bogus-seccomp:label docker.io/libpod/alpine-with-seccomp:label docker.io/libpod/alpine_healthcheck:latest docker.io/libpod/badhealthcheck:latest Since most of those were new quay.io/libpod images, they required going in through the quay.io GUI, image, settings, Make Public. * e2e tests: SkipIfRemote(): add a reasonEd Santiago2020-09-23
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Now that Dan has added helpful comments to each SkipIfRemote, let's take the next step and include those messages in the Skip() output so someone viewing test results can easily see if a remote test is skipped for a real reason or for a FIXME. This commit is the result of a simple: perl -pi -e 's;(SkipIfRemote)\(\)(\s+//\s+(.*))?;$1("$3");' *.go in the test/e2e directory, with a few minor (manual) changes in wording. * support multi-image (docker) archivesValentin Rothberg2020-09-08
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Support loading and saving tarballs with more than one image. Add a new `/libpod/images/export` endpoint to the rest API to allow for exporting/saving multiple images into an archive. Note that a non-release version of containers/image is vendored. A release version must be vendored before cutting a new Podman release. We force the containers/image version via a replace in the go.mod file; this way go won't try to match the versions. * move go module to v2Valentin Rothberg2020-07-06
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With the advent of Podman 2.0.0 we crossed the magical barrier of go modules. While we were able to continue importing all packages inside of the project, the project could not be vendored anymore from the outside. Move the go module to new major version and change all imports to `github.com/containers/libpod/v2`. The renaming of the imports was done via `gomove` [1]. * Fix directory pull image name for OCI imagesSascha Grunert2019-08-19
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This is a breaking change and modifies the resulting image name when pulling from an directory via `oci:...`. Without this patch, the image names pulled via a local directory got processed incorrectly, like this: ``` > podman pull oci:alpine > podman images REPOSITORY TAG IMAGE ID CREATED SIZE localhost/oci alpine 4fa153a82426 5 weeks ago 5.85 MB ``` We now use the same approach as in the corresponding [buildah fix][1] to adapt the behavior for correct `localhost/` prefixing. [1]: https://github.com/containers/buildah/pull/1800 After applying the patch the same OCI image pull looks like this: ``` > ./bin/podman pull oci:alpine > podman images REPOSITORY TAG IMAGE ID CREATED SIZE localhost/alpine latest 4fa153a82426 5 weeks ago 5.85 MB ``` End-to-end tests have been adapted as well to cover the added scenario. * Fix SystemExec completion raceChris Evich2019-03-01
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Some callers assume when SystemExec returns, the command has completed. Other callers explicitly wait for completion (as required). However, forgetting to do that is an incredibly easy mistake to make. Fix this by adding an explicit parameter to the function. This requires every caller to deliberately state whether or not a completion-check is required. Also address **many** resource naming / cleanup completion-races.
