Este elemento pode ocorrer somente em um elemento filho de {{HTMLElement("dl")}}. Geralmente seguido por um elemento {{HTMLElement("dd")}}; ou multiplos <code><dt></code> na mesma linha indicam vários termos sendo definidos pelo próximo element {{HTMLElement("dd")}}.</p>
